The Bayelsa State Governorship election results collation, initially scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, faces a delay until 3 p.m., raising concerns and sparking controversy.
At the state collation center in Yenogoa, the Returning Officer, Faruk Kuta, cited the need to gather additional local government results for the adjournment decision. This delay prompted members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to protest at the INEC office in Yenagoa on Sunday.
Allegations of election irregularities in the Nembe-Bassambiri area circulated, with some commissioners and Bayelsa State House of Assembly members insisting that elections did not take place in certain locations, adding fuel to the unfolding controversy.
