Nigerians have trooped to social media to wish Vice President Yemi Osinbajo a successful recovery following a leg surgery on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at the Duchess International Hospital in Lagos State.
News of Osinbajo’s surgery was disclosed in a tweet by his media aide Laolu Akande (@akandeoj) where he stated that the VP would undergo a surgical procedure due to an injury he got from playing squash.
“VP Osinbajo is in the hospital today for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash. His doctors would give an update of the treatment later today.”
In reaction to Akande’s tweet, Nigerians wished the VP quick recovery, further commending him for putting faith in a Nigerian hospital, unlike his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Others jokingly suggested the surgery was a ploy to make himself unavailable to offer any helping hand to the APC, seeing their struggles in the 2022 Osun governorship election, as results so far show the PDP holding a steady lead.
Other simply couldn’t be bothered.

@DrJoeAbah VP @ProfOsinbajo had his surgery done in Nigeria. As it should be.
@Sadeekhassan There’s nothing exciting about Osinbajo having his surgery in a private hospital in Nigeria. I wish him a quick recovery. But the fact that in 2022, after 7 years of APC, none of our leaders have confidence in our state owned facilities is embarrassing.
@thebardogbamola Well done o jare Starboy @ProfOsinbajo. You did well using a Nigerian hospital. Although, I know say e get why, nobody go blame you for not picking calls today abi? Gbayi!!!!
@dideamazing While people are suffering and living with fear. Vice president Osinbajo was playing tennis or so. Now he has an injury that requires surgical operation. I hope he get well soon. He needs to remember that God will ask him how he serve humanity.
