Amid the irregularities and allegations of corruption surrounding the outcome of the 2023 general elections, the Country Ambassador of Blockchain Technology Impartmarket, Kingsley Goodwin, says if the Federal Government had deployed Blockchain technology in the conduct of the elections, the results collated would have remained permanently on the INEC website.
Goodwin made the disclosure during a Twitter Spaces session with Quest Times on Thursday, while speaking on the benefits petty traders can derive from blockchain.
He said; “Even the Government needs Blockchain. Let me give you an example. The recently concluded 2023 general elections which is being criticized for the amount of irregularities…
“We are saying the results that were recorded on BVAS…some of these records could be deleted but if election was done on Blockchain network, that election cannot be deleted nor tampered with. The records will be there permanently.
“So if the government chooses Blockchain network for elections, in other words if every eligible voter casts their votes on the blockchain, that record will be there forever. It cannot be deleted.”
The ambassador also tasked the government to deploy blockchain technology for elections in order to ensure credibility of the entire process.
