The Lagos State Government has filed a one count charge against an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Drambi Vandi for the alleged murder of a lawyer, Bolanle Raheem in the state.
Moyosore Onigbanjo, Lagos State Attorney General filed the one count charge at a Magistrate Court in Yaba.
The charge dated Dec 30th, 2022 was signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Jide Martins.
ASP Vandi also appeared before the Magistrate Court.
The document sighted by The Quest Times reads, “that you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
With the charge, the Attorney General applied for the remand of the defendant pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015.
He told the Chief Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun that the basis for the remand is to allow the police conclude its investigations into the matter and for a legal advice to be issued.
Olatunbosun granted the request for remand and ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She then ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Nigerian correctional Centre, Ikoyi and adjourned to Jan. 30th, 2023.
