Justice Ahmad Olarewaju Belgore, a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, breathed his last on Tuesday night at his home in Ilorin.
The respected jurist’s passing occurred after he broke his fast during Ramadan, as revealed by a source close to the family.
Having retired as an Appeal Court Justice on April 18, 2023, upon reaching the age of 70, Justice Belgore left behind a legacy of distinguished service to the judiciary.
His contributions spanned various national and international roles within the legal sphere.
Expressing profound grief over the loss, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, emphasized the magnitude of Justice Belgore’s departure.
In a statement conveyed by his spokesperson, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir lamented, “This is a great and colossal loss that has befallen the Ilorin Emirate and humanity at large.”
The Emir further honored Justice Belgore’s memory, saying, “Inna ilaihi waina ilaehi raji’un, it is with shock that I received the news of the demise of Justice Ahmad Belgore. He was a complete gentleman, a thorough judicial officer who served the nation meritoriously in various capacities, nationally and internationally.”
