Popular Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, has been confirmed dead following a series of conflicting reports and twists.
Emeka Rollas, the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), expressed deep sorrow over Junior Pope’s untimely passing, reflecting on the fleeting nature of joy amidst the news.
He lamented, “It’s so so sad that our joy was shortlived.”
In a heartfelt Facebook post early Thursday morning, Rollas revealed the heartbreaking news, stating, “Two notable hospitals tried their best to revive him but to no avail. God knows the best. We finally lost him.”
He added with a heavy heart, “Mr. Friday’s corpse has been identified but three other corpses are yet to be found.”
Delta State AGN chairman, Emma Onyemeziem, echoed Rollas’ sentiments, confirming the somber news of Junior Pope’s body being placed in a morgue, marking the end of a vibrant life and career.
Junior Pope met his tragic demise after a harrowing boat accident on the Anam River in Anambra State. Peter Chinedu, one of the brave divers who participated in the recovery efforts, recounted the chilling moments leading up to the discovery of their bodies.
He revealed that they were on their way to a movie location when the unforeseen disaster struck.
A witness, identified as David, shed light on the circumstances surrounding the accident, disclosing that they were returning from a shoot when their boat tragically capsized on the turbulent waters of the Anam River.
Prior to the fatal incident, Junior Pope had shared a video where he highlighted the risks undertaken in the pursuit of entertainment.
His caption reads, “See me lamenting… The risk we take to entertain you; crossing River 9ja yesterday with no life jacket… Na wahooooo Who does that??”
