President Tinubu is set major visit to Qatar on March 2 and 3, 2024, alongside a sizable delegation of 38 individuals, which notably includes his sons, Seyi and Yinka.
Split into two groups, the delegation aims to bolster diplomatic ties and explore potential collaborations with Qatar.
The first batch, consisting of 16 members, is slated to arrive on February 28, 2024. This contingent comprises distinguished figures such as Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, among others.
The subsequent group, comprising 22 individuals, will land on February 29, 2024, including Seyi and Yinka Tinubu.
This diplomatic endeavor unfolds against the backdrop of nationwide protests concerning prevailing economic challenges, including hardship, hunger, and soaring living costs.
Despite promises to streamline governance expenses, skepticism abounds regarding the government’s sincerity in implementing austerity measures.
Of particular scrutiny is Seyi Tinubu’s utilization of the presidential jet for private purposes, echoing similar controversies involving high-profile individuals in the past. Previously, his excursion to witness a polo tournament in Kano stirred public outcry, highlighting the disparities between ostentatious displays and widespread socioeconomic hardships.
