Efoghe Osamudiamen, 34, was remanded to Oko Correctional Center on Thursday by Justice Geraldine Imadegbelo of a Benin High Court, Criminal Division for alleged sexual exploitation of a 14-year-old girl in Benin.
Imadegbelo remanded the suspect in custody until May 10, 2023, when the case will be heard again.
The remand followed an ex parte application made before the court by the Benin Zonal office of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons on a two-court basis.
Efoghe was charged with alleged procurement of the victim for sexual exploitation contrary to Section 16 (1) of the Trafficking Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015.
The suspect was said to have in 2018 procured the girl (who is now 19) for sexual exploitation while she was 14.
He was said to have procured the victim for pornographic performance contrary to Section 17 of Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration.
