Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has categorically denied the authenticity of a resignation letter circulating in the state purportedly bearing his signature.
This response follows exclusive reports by SaharaReporters, which claimed that members of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s inner circle were working on a plan to oust the Deputy Governor if he did not voluntarily resign.
Sources close to Mr. Aiyedatiwa, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that the Deputy Governor, who played a pivotal role during Governor Akeredolu’s medical treatment abroad, had no intentions of resigning before the conclusion of his four-year term.
In an official letter signed by Mr. Aiyedatiwa and titled “Re: PURPORTED PRE-SIGNED RESIGNATION LETTER,” he firmly asserted, “I, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, have not, do not intend, and will not sign any letter resigning my position as the duly elected Deputy Governor.” He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his four-year mandate.
Political tensions in the state have reportedly escalated, with Mr. Aiyedatiwa facing pressure from influential politicians loyal to Governor Akeredolu, who are pushing for his resignation or potential impeachment. This situation has created divisions within the State Executive Council.
Furthermore, suspicions have arisen since Governor Akeredolu returned from his medical trip and began governing the state from Ibadan, raising questions about potential cabinet reshuffles and dismissals among government officials.
