The Defence Headquarters has reported significant advances in multiple army-led operations, underscoring the successful efforts to combat terrorists and dismantle oil theft networks.
Operations conducted across the country have resulted in the neutralization and capture of key figures and facilitators involved in these criminal activities.
Additionally, the statement highlighted the destruction of hideouts and camps belonging to terrorists, insurgents, and oil thieves during various military operations. This update was conveyed in a statement released by Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, on Friday, October 20.
Buba stated, “Accordingly, the insurgents and terrorists are in perpetual mourning as they constantly bury their dead and would continue to do so”.
In addition, “Our communities across the country have risen to the occasion in exposing these elements and it is making a tremendous impact on operations as they no longer have a hiding place”.
Also, the DHQ reaffirmed its commitment towards protecting the country against any form of terrorism, “The actions and activities of the armed forces in the ongoing counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations are integral to the plan of focusing military pressure on these terrorists and extremists to cause them to submission”.
“The operations are yielding desired results ranging from denying safe havens to these groups to the destruction of their command and control facilities as well as training facilities”.
“The military is in a good fight and is winning in this war. Our operations have killed or captured several terrorist and insurgent leaders as well as their facilitators and key associates” the statement added.
