A 50-year-old woman, Mrs Ify Njoku, has gone missing after leaving for a job interview at Deluxe Premium Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on September 1, 2023, leaving her family in distress.
As gathered by Quest Times, Mrs. Njoku, a mother of five, had reportedly completed her interview, but never returned home.
According to her daughter, Chioma, she left the hotel according to CCTV footage, but went missing before reaching home.
Chioma shared, “She went to the Deluxe Premium Hotel in GRA Port Harcourt for a chef interview. The last time I spoke with her was the night she finished her interview on September 1, 2023. She drove down there in a silver-coloured Toyota Venza with number plate JJJ-60-DE.
“My mother is a very innocent woman at heart and the kind who doesn’t like trouble. She is very gentle and always keeps a smiling face even when things are not fine. I knew how happy she was that night I called her and she told me she had got the job.”
Narrating a distressing incident, Chioma explained that her mother, while on the phone with a friend, suddenly started screaming when she encountered men in police uniforms.
The friend reported that Mrs. Njoku screamed, “You people should leave me alone. What did I do to you people?” before the call abruptly ended.
Despite efforts, the family has not received any ransom demand, deepening the mystery of her disappearance.
Moreover, the police in Port Harcourt are reportedly investigating the case, and the family has checked hotel CCTV footage and tracked her phone to the Pipeline area.
Expressing desperation, Chioma appealed to the Rivers State Government for assistance, specifically calling on the Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, to thoroughly investigate the case.
She lamented, “My mother has been missing for over four months now and there is still no clue of where she is or the people behind it, even the Venza she drove that night has not been found to date.”
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, was unavailable for comment, directing further inquiries to her Port Harcourt colleague.
