The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) and Department of State Service (DSS) personnel clashed on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Lagos over a secret police plan to re-arrest suspended Central Bank Governor Goodwin Emefiele.
According to witnesses, DSS operatives are attempting to re-arrest Emefiele despite the court’s grant of bail.

Emefiele was arraigned by the Federal Ministry of Justice for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition but was granted bail in the sum of N20m with one surety following his “not guilty” plea.
While the defendant’s lawyers were attempting to perfect his bail conditions, a minor drama unfolded within the courtroom between fully hooded DSS operatives and NCS over who would take custody of the embattled CBN boss.
Two Hilux vehicles from the two government agencies were parked near the court’s entrance.
The Quest Times learned that the prison service also brought dogs into the courtroom.
