The Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, Mr. James Kanyip, has reacted to the appearance of certain “Bishops” during the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Quest Times had reported that Shettima was unveiled as Bola Tinubu’s running mate in Abuja on Wednesday, July 20, during which some persons said to be Bishops were spotted.
The controversial presence of the said Bishops came at a time Tinubu’s choice of Shettima, a fellow Muslim, was attracting concerns.

However, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, as well as the Catholic Church have since described the Bishops as fake.
Reacting to the development, the Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor El-Rufai, Office of the Deputy Governor, said Christians should not cry of insult against their faith.
The deputy chief of staff who took to his Facebook handle wrote;
“I think we, Christians, should not cry of blasphemy and insults against our religion by others.
“It is unfortunate that we are the ones doing it against our own religion.
“We generally make jokes and jest of our clerics and religious leaders in a comical, sarcastic, and mocking manner.
“It is now commonplace to see Christian comedians using Jesus Christ and Christianity as subjects of jokes in comedy shows and skits. Others do the same on social media and elsewhere.
“On their part, some so-called “men of God” open mushroom churches on almost every street, and then award undeserving Bishopric and other titles to themselves, thereby making a mockery of the revered office.
“This explains why some of them don’t even know the right vestments to wear.
“We bring dishonour upon our religion; we should not cry wolf when others do same.”
