Acting governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa may reinstate his media aides sacked by his principal, Rotimi Akeredolu in September, credible sources informed QUEST TIMES on Wednesday.
The affected aides include Press Secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special Assistant to Governor (New Media) Okunniga Oladipupo; and Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography) Abayomi Samson Adefolalu.
Following his return from medical treatment in Germany in September, ailing Governor Akeredolu sacked all the media aides of the deputy governor and directed them to submit all government properties in their possession to the acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor.
Even though the reasons for the sack of the aides were not given, sources said Akeredolu’s loyalists accused them of spreading false news about the Governor’s health on social media.
On Wednesday, the House of Assembly issued a statement that Aiyedatiwa is now the Acting Governor following the plans by Akeredolu to return abroad for medical treatment.
Given his deteriorating condition, there are palpable fears that Akeredolu who is alleged to be suffering from leukemia (cancer of the blood) may not return to his position.
According to our source, “the Acting governor may return his media aides whom he is comfortable working with. Besides, they never committed any offence before they were sacked by Governor Akeredolu in September”.
QUEST TIMES also learnt that the fear of possible dissolution of the State Executive Council has gripped the commissioners and other members of the council following Aiyedatiwa’s assumption of office as Acting governor.
Our source said some loyalists of Akeredolu who believe the Acting governor will victimise them are planning to resign from their positions.
