Benita Okereke, 28, was once an able-bodied, agile, young lady from Ebonyi State, with good looks to boot. She would assist her mother in preparing a local corn snack called ‘agidi’ in Igbo language, in order to meet rising customers’ demands.
Until 2015 when luck ran out on her.
Okereke mistakenly fell into the burning fire with one side of her face, while preparing the delicious local food.
Speaking to the Quest Times Exclusively on Friday at Nyanya motor Park, Abuja, Ms Okereke revealed that one of her sisters had assisted in sponsoring her trip to Abuja for medical operation at the National Hospital in 2019, but the doctor asked her to return for the second operation.
There’s however been no money to continue treatment.
She is appealing for financial assistance to carry out the second operation.
According to her, she has been stigmatized by family members and people around her who refuse to offer her jobs despite her enthusiasm to be gainfully employed, because of her present condition.
“I stay in Kurudu Area and move from street to street in Abuja, begging people to survive,” she says.
