Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has sacked his Commissioner for Health, Saka Audu, over alleged misappropriation of funds, Quest Times can authoritatively report.
According to sources who spoke to Quest Times on Saturday, the Yahaya Bello-led government did not want the sack of the embattled commissioner pronounced based on undisclosed reasons.
“Government does not want to make it (the sack) public. There has not been any official statement to that effect yet. Though he (Dr Audu) was suspended, it is still a rumour that he was sacked until it is communicated through the appropriate channel,” a source close to the Kogi State Government told Quest Times reporter on the phone.

“The state government is still silent about the sack pending when it deems it fit to divulge the information to the public,” another source added.
The source, however, promised to get back to our reporter as soon as she gets the green light from the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
Quest Times gathered that Audu has spent over six years as Commissioner for Health in Yahaya Bello’s administration and had been accused of financial impropriety some time in 2021.
Recall that Saka Audu was moved to tears during the COVID-19 lockdown era, as he inspected the vandalised Kogi State Medical Store complex located in Lokoja, the state capital.
Audu, while addressing journalists in an emotion-laden voice at the time, said equipment worth billions of Naira were destroyed by the vandals.
