Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis has officially announced that the club is on the verge of finalizing a contract extension with striker Victor Osimhen.
The ongoing saga surrounding Osimhen’s new contract has endured several twists and turns over the past few months. However, recent developments suggest that the deal is now on the brink of completion, following a recent meeting between De Laurentiis and Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, where a fundamental agreement was reached.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport in a revealing interview, De Laurentiis expressed confidence that the contract extension is in its concluding stages, stating, “I’ve said it and I’ll say it again: we’re at the final stretch [regarding an extension].”
Even before the meeting between the club CEO and Calenda, De Laurentiis had previously affirmed in an interview that the 24-year-old Nigerian would extend his contract, a prediction that now appears to be coming to fruition.
Anticipations are high that Osimhen’s new deal will incorporate a release clause valued at €130 million, a crucial element in the ongoing negotiations. With talks having taken place, it is now expected that the talented striker will commit his future to Napoli with the signing of the contract extension.
