A plaza at a popular market on Lagos Island has been gutted by raging fire in the early hours of Tuesday.
It was learnt that the fire affected a five-storey building in the market where Ladies’ shoes are sold.
Firefighters from two divisions of Lagos Fire Service had been deployed to the scene to put out the fire.
The cause of the inferno cannot be ascertained as at the time of filing this report but firefighters are still battling to control it.
The Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the development in a short statement.
She assured that the fire would be put under control by men of the state firefighters and other responders.
There have been many fire incidents in the market, with goods worth billions of naira lost in the process.
