A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Olabode George, has asked Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties including the PDP, to suspend their campaigns, just like the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi did.
The PDP chieftain made this call while speaking during an interview with Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, monitored by Quest Times on Sunday.
“It (suspending campaigns) makes a lot of sense both politically and also spiritually. You know you cannot close your eyes and pretend that you didn’t know what is happening and its terrible effects on the lives of our people.
“I would advise them (other candidates) to do the same because if we are going now and trying to woo the hearts and minds of the people, anything that would disrupt their perfect state of mind should also be our major concern,” he maintained.

Obi, on Wednesday, October 19, urged his counterparts in other political parties to suspend their campaigns and join him to help victims of floods across states of the federation.
More than 600 people have died in the worst flooding Nigeria has seen in more than a decade, according to the nation’s humanitarian affairs department.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, said that as of Sunday, October 16, 603 people died, 2,407 people have been injured and 1.3 million people have been displaced.
Additionally, about 82,000 homes have been completely destroyed, 108,000 hectares of farmland have been damaged (raising concerns about Nigeria’s food supply) along with 332,000 hectares of roads and infrastructure, Farouq had said.
