In June, President Bola Tinubu indefinitely suspended Bawa from his position as EFCC Chairman, citing the need for a thorough investigation into his conduct while in office, in light of serious allegations of abuse of power.
Bawa was apprehended by the DSS just hours after his suspension by the president and has remained in custody until his recent release.
