Former Taraba State Governor, Rev. Jolly Tavoro Nyame, shared insights gained during his incarceration at the Kuje correctional center, expressing his reflections during a Thanksgiving service held at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) secretariat in Jalingo.
Nyame, who served a four-year term of a 14-year sentence, vowed to emerge as a more capable leader if given another opportunity to govern Taraba State. He highlighted the invaluable lessons learned in prison and emphasized the positive impact these experiences have had on his potential leadership qualities.
“I learned a lot while in Kuje Prison and in the hospital. If given another opportunity to lead the people of Taraba State, I will do better because of the experience I have gained,” Nyame declared.
The former governor stressed the significance of faith and resilience, advising leaders to remain steadfast in the face of challenges. He asserted that his imprisonment, which he deemed politically motivated, has shaped him into a better leader.
Despite his personal challenges, Nyame delivered a message of hope and unity for Nigerians, underscoring the importance of prayer and faith in the nation’s future. Encouraging prudence in personal expenses, he called on the government to prioritize policies that enhance the lives of citizens.
