Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed a keen interest in embracing peace amidst the ongoing feud with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.
Wike, speaking from his residence in Port Harcourt during a meeting with Ogbaland’s traditional rulers on his 56th birthday, vowed to stand firm against being pulled down while advocating for peace.
He said: “No politician will fold his hands and allow himself to be dragged down.
“I and my team would accept peace but we won’t allow ourselves to be dragged down because when we go down, who will protect our people. Who will talk about our own interest.”
The rift between Wike and Fubara has escalated, causing disharmony within the state legislature. Notably, 27 lawmakers have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
