A 300-level student of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Olona Joseph Oluwapelumi, popularly known as ‘Black’ has allegedly committed suicide.
The Quest Times gathered that Oluwapelumi reportedly took his own life by hanging at his off-campus residence in the Ondo State capital.

The students’ union government however confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday. Noting that there were speculations that the deceased chose suicide over financial issues.
According to the reports Joseph’s body was discovered hanged in his room on Saturday by his friends who went to look for him after they were unable to get him on the phone early Saturday morning.
On getting to his residence, the friends had discovered that Oluwapelumi’s room door was locked.
The friends decided to break the door after he failed to respond to the numerous phone calls.
The friends discovered the body of the student, popularly known as “Black”, hanging in the room after they gained entry.

Some of the student’s neighbours described him as jovial and friendly man, who never entered into arguments or fought with anyone.
