On Saturday, the Federal Government signed a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Cuba to enhance collaboration in Innovation, Science and Technology between the two countries.
Nigeria’s delegation to the G77+China Summit led by Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima, Director of Information in the office of the Vice President, Mr Olusola Abiola, issued the statement.
Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, signed the MOU on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria. President Bola Tinubu was praised by the minister for his visionary leadership resulting in the signing of the agreement.
The agreement would deepen the diplomatic ties between the two countries. The deal focuses on research and development as well as human resource development.
The partnership of the two countries centers on biotechnology; scientific Investigation and innovation; technological development; human resources development; specialist exchange in the area of science and technology; and technology transfer for development areas.
Mr Nnaji assured that Nigeria would fully maximize the opportunities provided by the bilateral agreement, further stressing that the implementation of the agreement will commence immediately.
The Vice President noted that Nigeria places a high premium on South-South cooperation as a platform for promoting sustainable development of the global South.
