The Delta State Police Command has shared a video recording of the disrupted gay wedding in the state. This event follows the recent arrest of over 100 individuals suspected of participating in a same-s3x wedding ceremony held at a hotel within the state. These suspects were paraded at the police headquarters in Asaba on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
In an official statement, DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the state police command, detailed the circumstances surrounding the arrests. According to him, on August 27, 2023, at approximately 9:00 PM, officers from the Ekpan Divisional Patrol Team intercepted a male cross-dresser who identified as an actor. During questioning, he admitted to being a member of a particular gay club and on his way to join fellow members for a same-s3x marriage event.
Acting on gathered intelligence, CSP Aliyu Shaba, the Divisional Police Officer, led a raid on Teebolus Hotel off Refinery Road Ekpan Warri, where it was reported that suspected gay members were conducting a same-sex marriage ceremony.
Upon the arrival of the police, the individuals involved in the event scattered and attempted to flee in various directions. Law enforcement officers pursued and apprehended a total of sixty-seven suspects, including both males and females, for their alleged involvement in organizing and attending the event, which was a same-sex wedding ceremony between Daniel Pius (the groom), 22 years old, and Maxwel Ohwonohwo (the bride), 20 years old.
A search of the event’s venue led to the discovery of several items, including a bottle of codeine, three cups of refined Canadian cannabis, five sachets of an unknown substance referred to as “SK,” one sachet of tramadol, four tablets of a drug known as molly, a crusher, and ceremonial attire associated with same-sex marriages.
During the investigation, one of the suspects, Abel Daniel, aged 23, reported that, while under the influence of alcohol, he had sexual contact with an unidentified male suspect who remains at large. The arrested suspects, as well as the seized items, are currently in custody, and efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the remaining suspects for potential prosecution.
