A former Presidential hopeful under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Chief Dele Momodu, has attributed his success in life to late Chief MKO Abiola.
Dele Momodu, a veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation International Magazine, who was responding to comments on his Instagram post, also said that the late Chief Abiola was Nigeria’s most iconic politician.
An instagram user, Olumide Lawal, had accused Momodu of selling his conscience after the Ovation publisher posted pictures of the meeting between Atiku Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in London.
Lawal, who commented on the post by Momodu said; “looking at people’s comments about you makes me think of those good days you were really a voice to reckon with… what happened egbon? Did you sell your conscience? From one party to another and then to PDP where you know you don’t even matter ??? If I were you I would just take a break. A good name is better than a pot of stew Sir. You wouldn’t want to end up as the former minister with big grammar that beats his wife and jumps from one party to the other because he can maintain himself. The drum beats louder when it’s about to break o.. check your comment section and reflect on yourself … Ojo esin ti su o.. I am not asking you to support anybody. Just sit back and report your news.. save momodu for the boys.”
Responding to the comment, Chief Momodu said: “I never follow the crowd. I follow my personal principles, philosophy and commonsense which is not usually common.

“Leaders are not always appreciated early. Leaders are seers who possess the third eye. When I arrived Lagos in search of greener pastures in 1988, Chief MKO ABIOLA was probably the most hated Yoruba man.
“FELA had released ITT and called him unprintable names. When I couldn’t get a job at The GUARDIAN newspapers, and was asked to try Abiola’s CONCORD, I was reluctant because of the bad stories on Abiola, but tried it because I was desperate for a job.
“CONCORD became the turning point in my life. Had I listened to Abiola’s enemies, I don’t know if I’ll be here today. ABIOLA soon became my adopted father. ABIOLA became Nigeria’s most iconic politician. Fela’s Brother, DR BEEKOLOLARI joined forces with ABIOLA to fight for our Democracy.
“Experience is the best teacher. If I wanted to sell my conscience, I would not have supported BUHARI who had no money in 2015. I would not have supported opposition leaders ATIKU/OBI in 2019 and would have joined APC by now. I’ve always been in opposition. The ruling government is where the money is. I expect you to understand these facts with all your education Sir.”
