Veteran Nollywood actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu has raised an alarm over recent happenings in the Nigerian movie industry.
Udokwu believes that Nollywood’s true potential is not being realized due to the prevalence of unprofessional practices in the industry.
During an Instagram Live session with journalist Azuh Arinze, the veteran actor lamented that amateurs have taken over the industry which has led to slow growth of Nollywood.
According to Bob-Manuel, professionals need to step forward to reclaim Nollywood.
“Nollywood ought to be greater than what it is at the moment. Unfortunately, the true potential of the industry is not being realised. A lot of unprofessional activities are going on.
Many half-baked practitioners have invaded the industry. The real professionals should step forward and take back Nollywood.”
Bob Manuel added during the Instagram Live session that in order to succeed in Nollywood for a long time, one needed to embrace perseverance and hard work.
“Hard work, consistency and being true to oneself are important if one wants to last long in Nollywood. One does not need to do things because others are doing it. One just has to be true to oneself.” He said.
