A 34-year-old man, Eromosene Ererene, is currently in a quagmire.
While he hopes for the best, he laments that his life has temporarily been ruined by a health challenge, which has not only made living a bizarre and excruciating experience, but has also robbed him of the ability to socialise with friends and family following the stigma attached to the sickness.
According to a histology report from Group Christian Medical Centre, Delta, dated October 18, 2022, Ererene suffers from infective keloids with abscess formation.
Speaking to Quest Times, the Delta-born narrated his ordeal.
“It (the keloids) all started as a result of chickenpox and after the healing, the scar caused by the chickenpox began to grow and escalated to form keloids which also were seriously infected.
“Initially, I wanted to go for surgery but because of my medical ignorance of keloid, I was afraid to do that. I have done everything medically possible to make sure it goes completely, the medications and antibiotics have really been of no help,” he laments.
As it stands, he has been able to raise 50% out of the N1.5 million required for his surgery and other logistics through online crowdfunding.
“For the keloids to be totally removed, I have to go for surgery and also post-surgery treatment or care. The fee for the surgery and hopefully post-surgery care is #1.5m,” he discloses.
Mr Ererene, therefore, seeks the support and assistance of well-meaning Nigerians, NGOs and the relevant government agencies to come to his aid to enable him to finance his medical treatment.
“I really want to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to come to my rescue and save me from the situation which has kept me in isolation and also reduces my self-esteem,” he appeals.
