Veteran Nigerian journalist cum Arise TV anchor, Reuben Abati, is currently trending on Twitter, and here’s why.
The former presidential media aide is currently at the centre of controversy on one of Nigeria’s most popular microblogging sites, Twitter.
You might be wondering if it is for a positive reason, as most trending topics on Twitter NG turn out to be, but the journalist is trending due to his reaction to the controversial comment of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who fingered him over the ongoing PDP crisis.

Speaking on Friday at the Port Harcourt International Airport in the Rivers State capital, shortly after he returned from a foreign trip, Wike accused the former vice president of telling lies against him, as well as using some chieftains of the main opposition party to spread falsehood against his person following the aftermath of the PDP presidential primary.
Also in the video, Wike said; “forget about how journalists like Reuben Abati, who was the former Chief Press Secretary to Mr President…” adding that “sometimes, when you read or hear what he (Abati) says, you begin to wonder where we are heading to. No more investigative journalism.”
In a counter-attack, Abati said he would like to engage Wike at the level of ideas and not at his (Wike) emotional choices.
