Social media went abuzz over the choice of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s 2023 Campaign Director-General, Professor Akin Osuntokun.
Osuntokun was the Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was chosen to replace Doyin Okupe who resigned his position as campaign DG few weeks ago.

Checks by the Quest Times revealed that Mr. Osuntokun is listed as the approved Senatorial Candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) as published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in September for the 2023 elections.
Twitter users expressed their grievances on the development expressing concerns over his choice.
A series of reactions monitored on Twitter shows overwhelming disapproval.
@stanleyxjy said “party that couldn’t do a simple diligence in appointing her DG, want to rule a complex state like Nigeria. You guys are not ready.
Also @Queeneagleth stressed that LP and ZLP should settle their quarrel and hug it out at this point.
@asiwaju posted that “he’s very much aware he can’t win the senatorial race! Man needs to make money and the LP DG is a very good way to make some money before the elections.
@Huseinyera posited that “It’s not about being listed, he is actually a candidate vying for the senatorial post in Ekiti under the banner of ZLP.
