Renowned Nigerian personality, Toke Makinwa, recently revealed the harrowing tale of losing her parents in a house fire, during her childhood.
Speaking candidly on her show, “Toke Moments,” she described the incident as one of her deepest fears, plunging her into a world of anxiety and uncertainty.
As spotted by Quest Times, Toke, during a conversation with comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun, also known as AY, revisited her traumatic experience, triggered by a recent fire incident at AY’s Lagos property.
Drawing parallels, she disclosed, “I’ve been a victim of a house fire when I was a kid, and unfortunately, both my parents died as a result of that. That’s one of my biggest fears.”
AY, expressing genuine sympathy, responded, “Sorry about that. I’m just hearing for the first time.”
He shared his own ordeal of discovering his Lagos residence engulfed in flames while he was on tour in Canada, highlighting the anxiety he felt upon waking up to numerous missed calls.
Reflecting on the devastation, AY stated, “Knowing fully well that my family was on holiday, that was my point of Thanksgiving. I woke up to about 78 missed calls that day. Any time I see something like that, I just know something has happened. I opened my phone and saw my house on Instablog.”
