Mark Zuckerberg has dampened the possibility of a fight against Elon Musk, as he doubts his tech competitor’s genuine interest in the idea.
Zuckerberg and Musk had been discussing the idea of having a cage fight, and Dana White, the president of the UFC, had offered his assistance to make it happen.
The UFC had been selling custom t-shirts to promote the fight, and White had also talked to the Minister of Culture in Italy about the possibility of holding the fight in the Colosseum in Rome.
However, it seems that the highly anticipated fight is unlikely to occur at this time. Zuckerberg has accused Musk, the head of Tesla, of providing multiple excuses.

According to the Meta founder, Elon has been hesitant to confirm a date, first citing the need for surgery and later suggesting a practice round in Zuckerberg’s backyard.
Zuckerberg emphasized that if Elon genuinely intends to set a firm date and organize an official event, he knows how to reach him. Otherwise, Zuckerberg plans to shift his focus towards competing with individuals who approach the sport with sincerity.
“I think we can all agree Elon isn’t serious and it’s time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity,” Zuckerberg wrote on threads

“Elon won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”
Zuckerberg’s comments come as a surprise as Musk gave an update insinuating the fight was still in play. Musk stated, “The fight will be managed by my and Zuck’s foundations (not UFC). Livestream will be on this platform and Meta.
He mentioned discussing this concept with the Prime Minister of Italy and the Minister of Culture, and they agreed on a remarkable location that pays homage to Italy’s past and present, with the proceeds benefiting veterans.
“Everything in the camera frame will be ancient Rome, so nothing modern at all. I spoke to the PM of Italy and Minister of Culture. They have agreed on an epic location. Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Italy, all proceeds go to veterans.”
Zuckerberg is an avid fan of mixed martial arts (MMA) and even constructed an octagon in his backyard, much to his wife’s dismay. He recently achieved success in a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament and trained alongside UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski. Despite the potential downfall of the Musk fight, Zuckerberg hinted that he might still engage in a cage fight against another opponent.
Expressing his passion for the sport, stating his readiness to share details about his next fight when he’s prepared. He stressed the importance of collaborating with professional organizations like the UFC or ONE to ensure a successful and captivating event that highlights elite athletes in the field.
“I love this sport and I’ve been ready to fight since the day Elon challenged me,” Zuckerberg added. “If he ever agrees on an actual date, you’ll hear it from me. Until then, please assume anything he says has not been agreed on.
“Not holding my breath for Elon, but I’ll share details on my next fight when I’m ready. When I compete, I want to do it in a way that puts a spotlight on the elite athletes at the top of the game. You do that by working with professional orgs like the UFC or ONE to pull this off well and create a great card.“
