According to reports from French sports outlet Sports Zone, John Terry is poised to assume the role of Sporting Director at Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab.
The former Chelsea captain has been involved with the Chelsea academy following his departure from his assistant manager role at Leicester City earlier this summer.
Initial expectations were that Terry would step into the managerial position at the Saudi club. However, sources from Sports Zone suggest that he will take on the role of Sporting Director instead.
Terry has declined the managerial position but is intrigued by the opportunity to serve as the club’s Sporting Director, primarily due to the short-term contract offered by the Gulf State club.
Al-Shabab has been actively seeking a “charismatic” figure akin to Steven Gerrard, who is currently managing Al-Ettifaq. If Terry accepts the reported position, it would mark his debut as a Sporting Director, having previously served as an assistant manager at Aston Villa and most recently at Leicester City.
