Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State and former President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday, met behind closed doors over the fortunes of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting between the two leaders was held behind closed doors at Jonathan’s residence in Abuja.
Ortom served as minister of state, trade and investments, and later the supervising minister, ministry of aviation, under former President Jonathan.

The meeting is coming after speculation that the former president had joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and was billed to contest the presidency on the platform.
But according to Ortom’s chief press secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, in a statement after the meeting: “The duo met behind closed doors for more than 40 minutes and discussed frankly.
“Although none of them spoke to the press when they came out, they were beaming with smiles, with the former president exchanging pleasantries.”

Discussion between the two party leaders was said to be centered on the fortunes of PDP and the victory of the party in the forthcoming general elections.
The coming convention and how the presidential candidate of the party will emerge was also said to have been discussed at the meeting. Ortom was accompanied by some members of his state executive council and advisers.
