… says no going back on February polls
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mamood Yakubu has disclosed that the commission has begun airlifting of sensitive materials to their various destinations across the country.

He made this known during a briefing to political parties on the formal presentation of new Register of Voters at INEC Headquarters, Abuja on Wednesday.
Prof. Yakubu used the opportunity to reassure Nigerians that the 2023 general elections will hold as scheduled without any plan to shift the dates.
According to him, a total of 93,469,008 voters have been recorded for the general Elections.
Breaking the figure down, Prof. Yakubu said “The voter distribution going by gender, female has 44,414,846 while male has a total of 49,054,162.”

On the category of occupation, the Chairman said students have the highest Population of registration voters with 26,027,481 followed by Farmers & Fishermen 14,742,554
Others are House wives (13,006,939), businessmen (12,457,997), traders (7,998,658), others (6,608,143). The report also noted that Civil Servants and Public Servants got 5,283,549 and 2,376,223 respectively.
