The Supreme Court has reserved its judgement in the appeal lodged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, David Ombugadu, regarding the last Nasarawa State governorship election.
After the lawyers presented their final arguments, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun announced that the judgment was reserved, and the involved parties will be informed when it’s ready.
The PDP and Ombugadu seek to overturn the Court of Appeal’s November 23, 2023 ruling, which had overturned the previous decision of the election tribunal, resulting in the removal of Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Court of Appeal found that the tribunal had based its decision on legally inadmissible evidence, leading to the voiding of Sule’s election and the declaration of Ombugadu as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.
