The Supreme Court has scheduled December 15 as the date for delivering its judgment in the case involving Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who has been in detention.
This decision comes in the wake of a landmark ruling by the Court of Appeal in Abuja on October 13, 2022, which ordered the release of Nnamdi Kanu. The appellate court not only ordered his release but also dismissed a 15-count terrorism charge previously filed against him by the Federal Government.
However, the Federal Government, dissatisfied with the verdict, decided to take the matter to the Supreme Court, setting the stage for this crucial legal showdown.
During the recent proceedings, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, announced the forthcoming judgment date after both parties presented their final briefs.
