In a poignant ceremony, Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the 12-year-old Dowen College pupil who tragically passed away on November 30, 2021, found his final resting place at the family’s compound in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta, after a two-year quest for justice.
Amidst tears and heartfelt emotions, family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to bid farewell to the young soul.
The burial ceremony attracted numerous dignitaries who paid their respects to Sylvester.
Reverend Goodluck Bayagbon, delivering a heartfelt homily from Isaiah 57:1-2, titled “Forever With The Lord,” urged Christians to live a life worth emulating, emphasizing Sylvester’s strong faith.
He celebrated the young boy’s positive impact on those around him, highlighting his caring nature, diligence, and devotion to both studies and faith.
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, also took a moment to eulogize Sylvester, describing him as a remarkable Nigerian whose promising life was cut short.
Falana commended the family’s unwavering commitment to seeking justice for their departed son, urging everyone to reflect on the legacy they would leave behind.
The father of the deceased, in a resolute speech during the second anniversary of Sylvester’s untimely demise, reiterated the family’s dedication to pursuing justice, stating, “I cannot be tired or discouraged from pursuing justice as I have promised my son to get him justice even if it will take thirty years to achieve it.”
