Kaduna International Airport has resumed domestic flight operations after over five months that commercial airlines suspended their flights into the airport as a result of security concerns and other logistics issues.
Quest Times gathered that operations resumed at 5:10pm on Monday, a commercial passenger plane conveying travellers from Lagos landed at the airport amidst heavy security, this also marked the resumption of flight operations along the route.
According to Adamu Sheikh, the Manager of Kaduna International Airport Manager, he stated that security measures have been put in place at the airport to secure the safety of both passengers and airline operators, while maintaining that the airport was never shut down due to bandit attacks.
Recall, in 2022 there was a terrible attack launched by bandits within the neighborhood of the airport, which eventually forced the suspension of airline operations.
However, Azman Air still continued operating along the Kaduna airport route even after the attack, it later suspended flights into the airport about five months ago, this situation equally affected passengers on Lagos-Kaduna route to either land in Kano or Abuja and then, travel to Kaduna by road.
Passengers who arrived from Lagos, landed at the airport on Monday, they pleaded with the government to ensure the airport remains safe and functional.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) noted that more airlines are expected to resume operations at the Kaduna airport.
In addition, the airport managers also reassured the passengers and airline operators that adequate security measures have been set up to ensure their safety at all times.
