Businessmen whose shops at the Eid ground were demolished by the Kano government asked for God’s intervention.
The store owners prayed to Almighty God for a better solution on Tuesday during a special prayer session.
They claimed that the government had demolished the structures without abiding by the law or taking the suffering of the innocent store owners into account.
The traders also lamented the lack of notification before the demolition, which “caught them off guard.”
Muhammad Sadiq, a trader, claimed that the emotional damage they experienced as a result of the demolition will take a long time to recover from.
The affected traders believed that the action had destroyed businesses and taken away jobs from thousands of people across the state.
The state government said it will set up a committee to look into the grievances of property owners in the ongoing exercise to reclaim public property.
