Veteran Nollywood thespian, Kenneth Okonkwo, has taken a swipe at some of his colleagues like Zack Orji, Joke Silva and Jide Kosoko, among others, who have openly declared their support for Bola Tinubu.
According to Okonkwo who is a Peter Obi supporter, these actors who have publicly endorsed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are doing so for “appearance fees.”
Appearing on ChannelsTV, Okonkwo said Obi of the Labour Party is Nigeria’s only option.
Reminded by anchor Seun Okinbaloye that some of his friends in Nollywood do not think so by throwing their weights behind Tinubu, Okonkwo said:
“You just said Nollywood. I’m not aware many of them are politicians. So, they are entitled to visit anybody and collect their appearance fee. I’m here talking as a politician, not as a Nollywood practitioner.
“An actor is entitled to his appearance fee. And if you call him as an actor, you have to pay him. If I was invited as an actor if I am not a politician, I would tell you what you will pay as appearance fee.
“So, let us forget them. When they say they are politicians, you sit them here and you ask them questions. Let us know the reason why they are following any candidate.”
Okonkwo dumped the APC and switched camps to Obi’s Labour Party in August.
