Operatives of the Ondo State Police have arrested five suspected kidnappers, who allegedly dozed off after taking hard drugs following the abduction of a pastor’s wife and two other individuals.
The suspects, identified as Garuba Mumuni, 27; Yusuf Tale, 21; Kabiru Muhammed, 16; Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed, 22, reportedly fell asleep, providing an opportunity for the victims to escape.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded when a pastor’s wife and a church member were abducted from their church, while a third victim was taken while gathering snails on a farm.
“The victims, however, escaped from their assailants at different dates after they had taken hard drugs and slept off.
“Through intelligence, on May 1, 2024, five among the six kidnappers were arrested by men of Ofosu division and have been identified by the victims as part of the gang that abducted them.”
Acting on intelligence, officers from the Ofosu Division apprehended five of the suspected kidnappers on May 1, 2024. The victims positively identified them as part of the gang responsible for their abduction.
Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, confirmed the arrests and assured that the suspects would be promptly arraigned in court.
