Nigerian singer, Kizz Daniel, has apologised for ghosting fans in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, after they had paid up to watch him perform at a concert he was billed to headline.
Irate fans in the East African nation protested Kizz Daniel’s no-show by vandalising the event venue; and the ‘Buga’ crooner was subsequently arrested by police for his troubles.

At a press conference held on Tuesday night and streamed on the show promoter’s Instagram page, Kizz promised to make it up to disappointed Tanzania fans, while giving his own side of the story.
According to Kizz, he was drenched and didn’t have extra clothes, as his luggage had been left in an Airline from Uganda.
“I left Uganda at six in the morning and I was drenched. I was wearing a pair of slides, shorts and agbada. I needed to freshen up. We got a couple of stylists and I was trying to settle down on the side.
“There were also unresolved issues between the agency back home and the promoter.
“When we eventually said Ok, let’s go on with the show, the venue was going wild and fans were going wild. Which I know was out of love. And I was advised to stay back, that it’s not safe.
“We decided to do a make-up show, a free show. But unfortunately, by morning the whole issue had been blown out of proportion in the blogs and the law got involved because of the vandalism.
“This Friday, a free show by the way. The show must go on. I will be partnering with Straight Up Vibes to make that happen.
“I must apologise to the fans. None of this was intentional,” he said. “I love my job. Especially, I love performing. I’m a great entertainer. I didn’t mean to disrespect the fans. I wanted to perform. I came to Tanzania to perform. But due to circumstances way over my power, we couldn’t make that happen.
“I apologise once again to Tanzania.
“I hope you guys give me another chance to give you a show, a beautiful show.”
Gold chain saga
Kizz Daniel also refuted reports that he refused to perform because he didn’t have his gold chain on. “That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard…I mean, right now, I’m wearing one,” he said. “It wasn’t about that. None of that is true.”
Stephen Uwa, who put the show together, had alleged that Kizz Daniel refused to perform because he didn’t have his gold chain.
Uwa also said he paid Kizz $60,000 for the show.
“He (Kizz Daniel) only said the airline didn’t bring his bag, that is why he could not perform because his gold chain is not there; and he had a gold chain on his neck. He wanted everything.
“I bought him different clothes but he said just because the airline didn’t bring one of his bags, he cannot perform without his gold on his neck,” Uwa said.
Kizz Daniel has been roundly condemned by Nigerian Twitter users for his conduct in Tanzania.
