The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has swiftly responded to the viral issue concerning pre-filled result sheets during the ongoing governorship election in Kogi state, as reported by QUEST TIMES.
Prior to the election, a results sheet surfaced online, sparking various reactions across social media platforms.
In light of these developments, INEC is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and has launched a thorough investigation. Their official statement, posted on their ‘X page (formerly Twitter), reads: “Breaking News – Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State.
“The Commission views this situation seriously. Our senior officials deployed to the State are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly. #KogiDecides2023.”
YIAGA Africa, an advocacy organization, had previously urged INEC to look into the issue. In a tweet directed at INEC, YIAGA Africa stated, “Dear @inecnigeria, we received a report of pre-filled results sheets discovered in PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/magongo in Kogi State before the commencement of voting. Kindly investigate and address this issue promptly to safeguard the integrity of the process.”
