The Labour Party (LP) has formally demanded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to relieve Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha of her position as Minister of State for Labour. The party alleges that she has failed to dedicate her full attention to her ministerial responsibilities.
This call for action came from the National Youth Leader of the Labour Party, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, during a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday. Ahanotu did not stop at requesting her removal but also urged security agencies to investigate her purported involvement in the ongoing crisis within the Abia state chapter of the party.
Ahanotu said, “We are calling on the present government to relieve Onyejeocha of her ministerial role as she has lost focus and refused to concentrate on the assignment given to her. Nigerians should note the ‘unholy alliance’ between Onyejeocha and some of the Labour Party expelled members led by Chief Lamidi Apapa, whose purpose is to ensure that the crisis is sustained perpetually in the party.”
In response to these accusations, Hon. Nkiruka Onyejeocha swiftly defended herself, urging the LP to resolve their internal conflicts and refrain from targeting her. She asserted that this development is yet another orchestrated campaign against her, following recent warnings from some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against her detractors both within and outside the party.
