Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said there is no cause for alarm following the terror advisories released by the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom and others.
The minister, who gave the assurance in Abuja during a ministerial session at the ongoing UNESCO Global Media and Information Literacy Week, said Nigeria will not be stampeded by whatever any government decides to tell its people living in Abuja and other parts of the country.
Quest Times earlier reported that the Embassy of the United States had said that there was an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja.
The Embassy of the United States also said targets may include but are not limited to government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, athletic gatherings, transport terminals, law enforcement facilities, and international organisations.
Mohammed however said that Nigeria’s security forces are doing everything possible to secure and protect Nigerians and foreigners living in the country.
“I can assure all that our military and other security agencies have continued to do everything possible to secure and protect Nigerians and foreigners living in Nigeria.
“Terrorists have been hard hit and put on the run. Bandits have been decimated and scattered. Our country is safer today than at any time in recent times, thanks to the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform,” Mohammed said.
