In a dedicated move to eliminate street trading, officials from the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps and Kick Against Indiscipline successfully removed street traders near Aunty Kenny in the Agric area of Ikorodu on Tuesday.
Quest Times reports that this action aligns with the state’s commitment to maintaining zero tolerance for street trading.
The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources in a statement, said that the dislodgement targeted persistent street traders along the kerb at Aunty Kenny Agric on Ikorodu Road.
“Operatives from the LAGESC/KAI on Tuesday dislodged recalcitrant street traders on the kerb at Aunty Kenny Agric on lkorodu Road as part of measures to sustain the zero tolerance for street trading,” it read.
Moreover, similar initiatives occurred on Monday at various locations, including Oshodi-Mushin Road, Ojuelegba Road, Yaba-Muritala Muhammed Way, Oyingbo under the newly constructed bridge, inner and outer Marina-CMS, Victoria Island, and Lekki.
Commissioner in the ministry, Tokunbo Wahab, provided directives for these enforcement activities, resulting in the apprehension of numerous defaulters, as the offenders were taken to the LAGESC/KAI headquarters for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner therefore emphasized ongoing efforts to prevent the return of street traders to these areas, instructing LAGESC/KAI operatives and related agencies to sustain the dislodgment.
