In a daring rescue operation, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials came to the aid of three passengers involved in a serious accident at Anthony-Oke en route to Oshodi in Lagos.
The incident, which occurred between a Volkswagen Commercial ‘T4’ bus (with plate number EPE 399 YC) and a ‘Homo’ Truck (with plate number T 20174 LA), left two women and one man trapped in the wreckage.
According to Adebayo Taofiq, the Public Relations Officer for LASTMA, in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the ‘Homo’ Truck drove recklessly and crushed a commercial volkswagen ‘T4’ bus while on motion as a result of a brake failure.”
Quick thinking and prompt action by LASTMA official, Abidoye Segun (Zebra 4), ensured that the Mosafejo Police Station and representatives of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit were swiftly contacted.
Quest Times further reports that Bakare Oki, the acting General Manager of LASTMA, visited the accident scene and cautioned all motorists against careless driving.
He also emphasized the importance of maintaining heavy-duty vehicles, especially their braking systems, in good condition before embarking on any journey, whether within or outside the state.
He therefore urged the public, especially motorists, to adhere to all traffic regulations to ensure the safety of everyone on the roads, especially during the Yuletide season.
