Massive jubilation in Lagos hours after Osinbajo’s declaration

Massive jubilation has hit the streets of Lagos, a few hours after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) declared to run for president in 2023.

On receiving the news of Osinbajo’s declaration for president, members of the Osinbajo Global Movement (OGM) trooped out en masse, thanking the Vice President for responding to their calls for him to join the race.

The jubilant crowd vowed to ensure his victory at the 2023 polls.

The Osinbajo supporters gathered at different locations across the state rejoicing at the Vice President’s declaration saying it was a dream come true.

They trooped out in their banners saying “WE WANT OSINBAJO”, “OSINBAJO IS OUR MAN” “OMULUABI NI OSINBAJO”.

At a rally in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin, the group’s Lagos State Coordinator, Mr Akinyele Ojo, said Professor Osinbajo is a competent and reliable Nigerian with a proven track record, integrity, transparency, and honesty who has what it takes to chart a course for a new Nigeria.

At another rally in Ilupeju, Odi-Olowo, a resident who identified himself as Malik said: “We are rejoicing today because Osinbajo has finally declared. Insha Allah, he will win the race. Everyone loves Osinbajo. We know he is a good man that can solve our problems.”

A community leader in the Oshodi area who attended the rally said: “Speaking on his antecedent, President Muhammadu Buhari recently gave him the mantle of the Acting President and the president was quoted to have said that he left his government to a capable hand.”

Mr Basit Atanda, an Alimosho resident, said during the jubilation in Baruwa area that he knew Osinbajo when he was Attorney-General of Lagos State. He said: “I was one of the first beneficiaries of the Public Defenders that Osinbajo initiated at the time. I cannot forget that.”
