West Ham United coach, David Moyes has revealed that an agreement has been reached with Manchester United for the signing of center-back Harry Maguire.
Initially, West Ham’s bid of £20m for Maguire was turned down by Manchester United, who were seeking a higher fee between £40m and £50m.
However, an agreement has been reached as reports suggest that an improved offer of around £30m for Maguire has been accepted by Manchester United.
Negotiations regarding personal terms are ongoing, and despite previous suggestions that Maguire was waiting for a move to a ‘bigger club,’ he is reportedly open to joining West Ham.
Manchester United is said to have offered Maguire £6m to facilitate his departure from Old Trafford and join West Ham, where his weekly wages are expected to drop from £190,000 to £120,000.
Moyes, who has identified Maguire as a key defensive target for the upcoming season, confirmed that both clubs have come to an agreement regarding the transfer fee. However, he refrained from discussing Maguire’s potential move further.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of West Ham’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth on Saturday, Moyes stated, “We’ve had a bit accepted from Manchester United, but while he’s not our player I’m not in position to discuss him, really.”
Maguire’s transfer to West Ham may not be imminent, as Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag reportedly expects Maguire to be available for selection in the Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
Maguire’s playing time at Manchester United was limited last season, and he is looking for regular first-team football to secure his place in England’s squad for Euro 2024.
In addition to Maguire, West Ham is also set to bring in midfielder James Ward-Prowse from Southampton in a £30m transfer deal. Moyes confirmed that Ward-Prowse is undergoing a medical examination, although the transfer has not been finalized yet.
Ward-Prowse would be the second midfielder to join West Ham this summer, following the recent arrival of Edson Alvarez from Ajax.
